Frequently asked questions
No. Cardstack has no sign-in and no accounts. You can start creating subjects and studying straight away.
No, not currently. Everything is stored locally on your device only. If you delete the app or switch devices, your data won't carry over. Cloud sync may be added in a future version.
Tap Create at the bottom of the screen, then New Subject to set up a topic, followed by New Stack inside it. From there you can add cards with a question on the front and an answer on the back.
Absorb is for reading through a stack with no pressure, cards flip automatically and nothing is scored. Practice has you type your answers, with three correct in a row needed to learn a card, and typos are forgiven. Test is the strict version: no typo forgiveness, and any mistake resets that card's progress. Completing a stack in Test mode is what marks it as properly mastered.
If you get a card wrong, it's reinserted a little further ahead in the queue so you see it again soon. A card only leaves the session once you've answered it correctly three times in a row.
Once you've mastered a stack in Test mode, Cardstack brings it back for review after 3 days, then 7, then 14, then 30, so what you've learned stays learned. Missing a review date doesn't cost you anything, the stack simply waits for you.
Your streak counts days on which you complete a Practice or Test session. Reading in Absorb mode alone doesn't count towards it.
Open the stack or subject, tap the ••• menu, and choose Delete.
